Understanding Anxiety: A Gentle Introduction

What is anxiety, really?

Anxiety is a natural response to uncertainty or perceived threat. In small doses it keeps us alert; when it lingers, it can start to feel overwhelming.

In therapy, we look at where that response comes from and how to work with it rather than against it.

A relational approach

Rather than treating anxiety as a problem to eliminate, a relational approach explores what it is trying to communicate, and how past relationships shape present responses.
